Ring of Honor TV Review, Episode 387, original air date 2/15/19.
ROH TV episode 387-
Ian Riccaboni & Colt Cabana on commentary.
Show starts right off with a 6 man Lucha rules match.
-Chris Sabin vs Flip Gordon vs Kenny King vs Rhett Titus vs Luchasaurus vs Shane Taylor
This seemed random but no big deal and maybe I missed something. I’m a big fan of Luchasauraus (Judas Draven), and he looked great here, even getting “Luchasaurus” chants after taking most everyone out at one point. But he didn’t take out Flip, who ran in and hit a 450 on Taylor.
But then Kenny pulled him out of the ring, then did it again hitting Flip with a chair, which I thought was funny. Leading to Kenny being ejected from the match and setting up a feud with Flip it seems. Shortly after Taylor got the pin on Titus after hitting his finisher….fun match.
-Marcus Kross & Griff Garrison vs The Bouncers
First off, I like the Bouncers, wrestling needs more big dudes and gals, IMO. Seeing them squashing another team was odd, but they need to get some wins sometimes too. As far as the match itself, it was short and fine.
-ROH Tag Team Championship
The Briscoes (c) vs Best Friends (Barretta had a family emergency and wasn’t at the show, Colt Cabana took his spot as Caprice Coleman joined Ian)
I’d rather see someone else in a spot like this, but the crowds love Colt, so it makes sense. Briscoes take control pretty quickly and mostly stay in control until Colt makes a comeback to “Colt Cabana” chants. Chuckie hit a nice combo with standing sliced bread on Jay and almost got a pin, before they started wrestling outside. Really nice looking blockbuster by Jay to Colt on the outside on a chair, taking him out. And Jay hits the Jay Driller on Chuckie shortly after, for the win.
Post-match, Briscoes beat on Chuckie, put him on a table outside and Mark did a crazy dive destroying him. Pretty good with the Briscoes coming out looking like huge heels.
-Video showing the formation of Lifeblood from last week’s show.
-Jay Lethal interview in the ring with Ian, before he quickly (but nicely) sent Ian away. Good stuff from him like always, talking about Bully and the Briscoes doing whatever they want and it’s not fair. Also mentions Matt Taven with his fake ROH World title, which led to Juice Robinson and Lifeblood coming out saying they agree with Jay. Jay says he’s not interested in joining a group and Juice quickly cuts him off saying, “there wasn’t an invitation”, nice one Juice.
Jay puts over all of Lifeblood on the mic, awesome job by him there. Saying Lifeblood can set the company back on the track they need to be on, also he tried and it’s not easy, so good luck to them. Juice says “Let’s stop talking about putting the honor back in this company and let’s start doing it”. Then challenges Jay to find his own 4 to face them and he accepts…great segment to close the show.
DiscussPW Grade- 7.6
Pretty good episode, there was nothing bad and the Lethal segment was really great. I’d recommend that and the Briscoes match if you have time. Also have to point out there was nothing from the WOH again on this show, they really need to fix that.
