Check out Jay’s NFL Thursday Night DraftKings DFS showdown picks for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Chicago Bears game
I’m just gonna do a quick intro thing here before I get to the picks. So Monday Night’s GB/ATL game was the first time I did a DFS article, you can check that out at the link (after NFL, I did one for the NBA and then PGA)
In that NFL DFS Showdown article I mentioned how I usually like to take shots with the captain spot. I mostly play in large tournaments where if you take a captain that’s not highly owned and they have a big game. You’re most likely going to make money, no matter how bad the rest of your team does.
For example I took Tonyan last week at captain. He had 3TDS which made the 0 FPTS from Ridley hurt much less. Now if Ridley had his usual big game, I could’ve made a whole lot. But that’s gambling…so let’s move on.
Check out the latest line and O/U for the game and then on to the picks.
TB -3.5, over/under is 44.5
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-1) vs Chicago Bears (3-1) DraftKings Showdown Captain Pick
Ronald Jones II, Buccaneers RB ($7,400)
LeSean McCoy has already been ruled out and Leonard Fornette is doubtful. So Jones should get a lot of touches, like last week where he rushed for over 100 yds on 20 carries and had 6 catches on 9 targets.
WRs Chris Godwin & Justin Watson have also been ruled out already. And with Mike Evans & Justin Miller questionable, there could be even more targets for Jones.
Plus, the Bears defense is not great against the run, with opponents averaging 115 yds per game.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Chicago Bears DraftKings Showdown Flex Picks
Flex- Tom Brady, Buccaneers QB ($11,200)
I’m not sure who he’s going to throw it to if Evans and Miller are out. But it’s Tom Brady and I’m banking on him figuring something out and hopefully it’s a ridiculous amount of throws to Jones II. Brady has 8 TDS with just 1 INT in his last 2 games.
Flex- Allen Robinson, Bears WR ($10,600)
He’s had back to back 100 yd games with a TD in each, and at least 9 targets in every game this season. I’m guessing he’ll be one of the highest owned players from this slate along with Brady.
Flex- Mike Evans, Buccaneers WR (9,400) or Scotty Miller, Buccaneers WR ($7,000)
Both are questionable at this point but I’m looking to start one of them if they play. I’ll most likely start Miller if both play, just based on my lineup and how much money I’m going to have left. If just Evans plays, I’ll probably be tinkering with my lineups.
Flex- Jimmy Graham, Bears TE ($6,800)
I don’t love this pick but he had a decent game last week after 2 TD’s the week before.
Flex- Buccaneers Defense ($5,400)
Bucs are great against the run, giving up just 64 yds a game to opponents this year and Bears RB David Montgomery hasn’t been very good. So that combo means Nick Foles will likely be forced to throw a lot which could lead to some turnovers and a big game for the Bucs D.
Flex- Darnell Mooney, Bears WR ($4,600)
He’s listed as questionable at the time of this writing, but he’s taken part in every practice this week. His targets have gone from 3 to 5 to 9 in the last 3 weeks.
Flex- Ryan Succup, Buccaneers K ($4,200)
I’ve had really good luck with kickers in showdowns and hopefully I can keep it going here. I figure TB could end up kicking a few FG’s since Brady doesn’t have many weapons.
Flex- Tyler Johnson, Buccaneers WR ($200)
ESPN reported Johnson is already in line for an expanded role this week with Godwin & Watson out. Now if Evans & Miller are out, he might be starting and he’s only $200!
Some notes before I head out-
Usually I post my team or mention it down here, but I won’t be setting my lineups until there’s news on all of the questionable players.
He’s been incredibly inconsistent but Rob Gronkowski could have a big game simply based on how many WR’s TB has available.
Now I’ll take a random shot at guessing the final score…Tampa Bay wins 21- 10.
And that’s it for me, best of luck out there!
See you on the next edition of…
