Check out the latest DiscussPW exclusive “Drafting with Jay”, DraftKings showdown picks for Sunday’s (October 11, 2020) New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys game
I’ve done a few of these DFS DraftKings columns now, so I’m gonna start cutting these intro paragraphs down. Here’s a link to all of the DFS picks I made this week, if you’re interested. Now I have to point out that I’m a NY Giants fan, so this one is going to be tough. I may be a little biased but I’ll do my best.
In a previous article I mentioned how I usually like to take shots with the captain spot in showdowns. I mostly play in large tournaments, so I make a lot of risky plays. Just a heads up there. Also, I make these picks early here so be sure to check for any injuries.
Ok, let’s get to it. Check out the latest line and O/U for the game and then on to the picks.
Dallas -9.5, over/under is 54.5
New York Giants (0-4) at Dallas Cowboys (1-3) DraftKings Showdown Captain Pick
Ezekiel Elliot, Cowboys RB (DK $10,800)
Elliot hasn’t had a game with over 100 rushing yards yet, and I think that changes this week. His receiving has made up for the lack of rushing yards lately in terms of DK production tho. I think Dallas goes ahead early and wins big, leading to more rushes than usual. Plus, he didn’t score last week for the first time this year, so maybe he’ll be angry.
I think Zeke and Dak Prescott will be the most owned captains by far. Normally I’d dodge that and make a risky play and I will with one of my lineups. I’ll take a shot with someone like Michael Gallup, Daniel Jones or maybe Davonta Freeman.
New York Giants (0-4) at Dallas Cowboys (1-3) DraftKings Showdown Flex Picks
Dak Prescott, Cowboys QB (DK $13,200)
I didn’t mention him as a captain, because I think he’s too expensive. He can easily have another monster game, he’s had 3 in a row and now facing the Giants. You’re going to have to make some tough choices if you take him as captain. I’d rather not make those and I think Zeke is the better play.
Daniel Jones, Giants QB ($9,000)
Jones hasn’t thrown a TD since week 1, but the Cowboys D is really bad. They’ve been giving up a crazy amount of points lately including 49 to the Browns last week and the team is averaging 0.3 DK FPTS this year. I like Jones here, might even take him as one of my captains like I mentioned above. His captain ownership should be very low, so that could pay off. (I usually play 2-3 lineups, nothing crazy).
Michael Gallup, Cowboys WR ($7,000)
Amari Cooper is too expensive for me at $10,400, esp since he’ll likely be seeing a lot of James Bradberry, one of the top corner’s in the NFL. I want to get at least one Dallas WR tho, so I’m taking Gallup. I also like Cedee Lamb who is just a bit more expensive at $7,800.
Evan Engram, Giants TE ($6,400)
Engram doesn’t have a TD this year and only 131 yds total. But he’s coming off his most targeted game with 10, Cowboys D isn’t good against TE’s, and Engram is due for a big game.
Golden Tate, Giants WR ($5,200)
Tate has been solid (in terms of Giants players) averaging around 5 catches a game on 6 targets. Cowboys D is also not good against WR’s, he’s much cheaper than Darius Slayton ($7,600) and he’s also due for a TD. But I could probably say that about most Giants players, sadly.
Davonta Freeman, Giants RB ($5,000)
The Cowboys are giving up 172.5 rushing yards a game this year. I had to double check that because it looks wrong, but it’s not. They gave up over 300 yards last week to the Browns and their top RB Nick Chubb was injured in the 1st quarter. Even if he doesn’t have a great day rushing, he could still get a red zone td and/or catch a bunch of passes.
Cedrick Wilson, Cowboys WR (3,600)
Wilson had a monster game two weeks back with over 100 receiving yds and 2 TD’s on 7 targets. Last week he had just 34 yds but still had 6 targets. He could have a good game, maybe even a great one, and is really cheap.
Noah Brown, Cowboys WR ($600)
Brown is coming off his best game, 4 catches/43 yds. He’s had at least 2 targets in each of the last 3 games. Worth a look at just $600.
Some notes before I head out-
I usually throw a kicker in there and/or a defense, but I’m not liking any of them here. Tony Pollard is another possibly good and def cheap play at $2,600.
That’s it for now, best of luck! See you on the next edition of…
