Check out the latest DiscussPW exclusive “Drafting with Jay”, DraftKings showdown picks for Sunday night’s (October 11, 2020) Minnesota Vikings at Seattle Seahawks game
Welcome, I’m back again with more NFL DFS DraftKings picks. This time it’s for the Vikings who are 1-3 taking on the undefeated Seahawks. You can see all of my previous picks at this link. I already did one of these for the Giants/Cowboys game and it was long (for me), so I’m going to get right to it.
Just gotta mention for anyone new that these are picks for DraftKings tournaments, where I make a lot of risky plays. And I’ve been posting more names lately, just to give readers more options.
Check out the latest line and O/U for the game and then on to the picks.
Seahawks -7, over/under is 57 points.
Minnesota Vikings (1-3) at Seattle Seahawks (4-0) NFL DraftKings Showdown Captain Pick
Justin Jefferson, Vikings WR (DK $8,000)
Jefferson has had a combined 278 receiving yards with one TD in his last two games. This week he goes up against the Seattle defense, giving up over 400 passing yards a game.
I’m figuring Russell Wilson and Dalvin Cook will be the most owned captains this week by a lot. Wilson is too expensive there for me, Cook is a better price but I don’t like him at captain this week.
I’m expecting low and maybe very low ownership at captain for Jefferson. He could easily have a huge game, he’s also cheap and saves you on other positions.
Minnesota Vikings (1-3) at Seattle Seahawks (4-0) NFL DraftKings Showdown Flex Picks
Russell Wilson, Seahawks QB (DK $13,000)
Wilson has been absolutely incredible this year with 16 TD’s in just 4 games (2 INT’s). He’s really expensive and should be very highly owned, but I’m expecting another big game.
Dalvin Cook, Vikings RB ($10,200)
At this moment I’m considering fading Cook, based on the money and lineups I’m looking at. Also, Seattle is good against the rush (giving up only 75 yds a game), he hasn’t been catching many passes and Vikings could be forced to abandon the run early. Then again, he’s only $10,200 and is averaging 25 DK FPTS per game. Tough call here, at least for me.
DK Metcalf, Seahawks WR ($10,000) or Tyler Lockett Seahawks WR (8,600)
DK’s had exactly 4 catches in each of the first 4 games, nothing amazing. But he’s got 3 TD’s and is averaging 100 rec yds per game. I think he could finally explode against the weak Minnesota defense.
It’s close but Lockett is averaging more DK FPTS than Metcalf and is $1,400 less here. I think that leads to Lockett being much higher owned. So I’ll take a shot with DK based on that, but I like both.
Adam Thielen, Vikings WR ($9,800)
Thielen has been inconsistent early on but he still has 4 TD’s. He’s coming off his best game with 114 yds on 10 targets and a TD. I talked about Seattle’s defense against the pass and he’s a great WR, so moving on.
Kirk Cousins, Vikings QB ($9,600)
I’m not sure about this one but I’m leaning towards giving him a shot. It could be a shootout, or blowout, or all kinds of things I guess. Whatever, the point is he might be passing more than usual, and against that bad pass defense.
Chris Carson, Seahawks RB ($7,800)
The Seahawks could easily go ahead early and win big, leading to more rushes than usual for Carson. And he’s already a solid play at that price with his usual amount of touches, he’s got 5 TD’s in 4 games.
Greg Olsen, Seahawks TE (5,000)
Olsen only had 5 targets in the first 2 games, but 13 in the last 2 with 10 catches. He’s also a red zone target and only $5,000.
Jason Myers, Seahawks K ($4,200)
I mentioned in my last NFL column how I’ve been lucky with kickers this season. It worked again with Ryan Succup (4 FG’s) and hopefully I can keep it going here. This one is risky since he hasn’t attempted more than 1 FG in any game this season. But the Vikings red-zone defense is 2nd in the NFL (thanks to DraftKings for that info) so he could have a good day.
Freddie Swain, Seahawks WR ($1,400)
Swain had his best game last week with 2 catches on 3 targets for 32 yards. He also just missed scoring a TD. He’s a really cheap play with some upside.
Some notes before I head out-
SEA WR David Moore is coming off a good game with 95 yds and a TD but he’s really inconsistent. SEA RB Carlos Hyde is questionable, if he sits, the other SEA RB’s Travis Homer ($1,200) & DeeJay Dallas ($400) are worth fliers.
I was looking up and down the Vikings offense and there’s not much there. Kyle Rudolph seems expensive at $4,600, he hasn’t had a game with more than 2 catches. I think kicker Dan Bailey at 4K is a better bet for points.
That’s it for now, best of luck! See you on the next edition of…
