Who is Ghislaine Maxwell? “20/20” dives into the elusive past of one of the world’s most notorious accused sex traffickers, currently awaiting trial on charges of allegedly aiding convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein in sexually abusing underage girls.
The two-hour program explores her wealthy upbringing, growing up in one of the richest families in England as the daughter of British publishing tycoon Robert Maxwell; how the scandalous death of her father upended her life; how she came to know Epstein; details about her alleged role in Epstein’s crimes; and her upcoming trial.
The program features footage from foreign correspondent James Longman’s exclusive television interview with Maxwell’s brother, Ian Maxwell, who believes that his sister, who has pleaded not guilty to all charges, is innocent.
“20/20” also includes exclusive childhood and family photos that depict Maxwell in a never-before-seen light and features interviews with Annie Farmer, the only alleged victim from the criminal complaint against Maxwell to self-identify; David Oscar Markus, Maxwell family attorney; Vassi Chamberlain, a journalist who knew Maxwell; John Preston, author of “Fall,” a new book on Robert Maxwell; women who survived Epstein’s alleged crimes and fought back to reclaim their lives; and more.
