Double or Nothing Review and Results

Review and results for All Elite Wrestling’s Double or Nothing. The show took place on May 25th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Paradise, Nevada.

Casino Battle Royale

Adam Page def Ace Romero, Jimmy Havoc, Michael Nakazawa, Glacier, Brian Pillman Jr, Luchasaurus, Shawn Spears, MJF, Joey Janela, Dustin Thomas, Orange Cassidy, Marko Stunt, Billy Gunn, Sonny Kiss, Brandon Cutler, Jungle Boy, Isiah Kassidy, Sunny Daze, Marq Quen and Tommy Dreamer.

-Page eliminated MJF to win.

I thought the rules were dumb and Page winning seemed obvious. But this was a really fun battle royal overall. I’m a big fan of Luchasaurus so it was great seeing him last until the final 3. Also great work by MJF as always.

-Kip Sabian def Sammy Guevara

Pretty good match with a surprising finish.

Main show begins

Cody, Brandi Rhodes & the Young Bucks came out and talked a bit, and the crowd was crazy loud.

-SCU (Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian & Scorpio Sky) def Cima, Lindaman & T-Hawk

This was a solid match to start things off, I was expecting better tho. SCU is great but the OWE guys didn’t impress me too much here. Daniels got to sing a bit before it started, so that was awesome.

Allie joined commentary, Brandi came out and announced another entrant, Awesome Kong! Making it a fatal 4 way match.

-Britt Baker def Nyla Rose, Awesome Kong and Kylie Ray

This was just ok, there were some good spots and Kong was a nice surprise. Kylie/Britt were great when they had time together. I think a 1 on 1 between them would have been a much better start for the division.

-Best Friends (Chuckie T & Trent Beretta) def Jack Evans & Angelico

I thought this was a good, fun tag match. Then after, the lights went out and 2 wrestlers showed up. Lights out again and masked men were everywhere attacking. I’m not sure who they were, I guess I’m not supposed to? That was odd.

(I was later told it was the Super Smash Bros, sadly I can’t take credit for that)

Commercial aired for “All Out”, taking place in Chicago on August 31st. Tickets go on sale June 14th.

-Hikaru Shida, Riho & Ryo Mizunami def Aja Kong, Yuka Sakazaki & Emi Sakura

I thought this started off really fun. But then became a mess, and went too long.

-Cody w/ Brandi Rhodes def Dustin Rhodes

This was a good brawl/match, def better than I expected.

Bret Hart came out to present the AEW World Title.

AAA Tag Team Championship Match

-The Young Bucks (c) def Pentagon Jr & Rey Fenix

This match was a blast, no complaints here.

-Chris Jericho def Kenny Omega

Def not the best Jericho/Omega match, but still a good main event.

Jericho on the mic post match, out comes Jon Moxley thru the crowd. He hit dirty deeds on Jericho and the ref, then brawled with Omega. Then lifted Omega and dropped him on the stage, that was awesome.

DiscussPW Grade- 8.9

Double Or Nothing was a very good wrestling show overall. I kept thinking it could really use a big name or angle. And then Jon Moxley (fka Dean Ambrose) came out kicking ass to close the show. So nicely done, I’m interested.
