Bob Hearts Abishola Tonight “Worth the Cooties”

A middle-aged businessman falls for his cardiac nurse — a Nigerian immigrant — while recovering from a heart attack and sets his sights on winning her over.

The series revolves around the unlikely love story between Bob Wheeler (played by Billy Gardell) and Abishola Adeniyi (played by Folake Olowofoyeku). Bob is a middle-aged sock manufacturer from Detroit who suffers a heart attack and ends up as a patient in a Los Angeles hospital. It’s here that he meets Abishola, a hardworking and no-nonsense Nigerian nurse who takes care of him during his recovery.

Bob is immediately smitten with Abishola, but she initially has little interest in him. She is focused on her career, her family, and the responsibilities that come with being an immigrant trying to make a better life for herself and her young son, Dele (played by Travis Wolfe Jr.). Abishola’s reserved and practical nature contrasts sharply with Bob’s more outgoing and impulsive personality.

Over the course of the series, Bob becomes determined to win Abishola’s heart, and he takes steps to learn more about her culture, particularly the Yoruba language and Nigerian customs. As their worlds collide and they navigate cultural differences and family expectations, Bob and Abishola’s relationship gradually deepens.

“Bob Hearts Abishola” Stars Billy Gardell (Bob), Folake Olowofoyeku (Abishola), Christine Ebersole (Dottie), Matt L. Jones (Douglas), Maribeth Monroe (Christina), Vernee Watson (Gloria), Shola Adewusi (Auntie Olu), Barry Shabaka Henley (Uncle Tundle), Travis Wolfe Jr. (Dele), Gina Yashere (Kemi), Bayo Akinfemi (Goodwin), Anthony Okungbowa (Kofo).

The series was created by Chuck Lorre, Eddie Gorodetsky, Al Higgins, and Gina Yashere
