48 HOURS and Nikki Battiste investigate a series of strange deaths surrounding disgraced South Carolina attorney Alex Murdaugh, now indicted for killing his wife and son. It’s a bizarre, tragic story that has unraveled under a national spotlight. That story took yet another turn Thursday when Alex Murdaugh was charged with killing his wife, Maggie, and son, Paul.
Murdaugh has said he found the two shot to death at their family hunting lodge on June 7, 2021. Murdaugh’s attorneys say their client is innocent.
The hour-long broadcast unpacks what has been a legal thriller with more twists than a Hollywood blockbuster, with Alex Murdaugh, a once prominent attorney, at the center of several investigations. He faces 84 additional criminal charges, most for fraud and theft.
